Statement of Purpose
The YMCA Camping program is dedicated to developing in children a personal standard of living which is implemented by promoting the spiritual, mental and physical development of each individual to the best of their potential. We strive to instill a sense of responsibility for the common good, a reverence toward nature and understanding of the Golden Rule and the part it plays in human relationships.

Welcome...
Many of us share fond memories of camp experiences from when we were young. The activities were great fun, but the friendships and role models are what really changed us and made it special. Parents are often surprised when their children have an obvious positive change after only a short time at camp. This is because camp truly is a magical place where kids can leave their everyday worries behind and everyone can feel like they belong.
Little Vikes, Leif Ericson, and Tepeetonka have become an important part of growing up to many because of strong goals and values that are the basis for our program. We want kids to have the happiest two weeks of their year while learning to grow in character. Great adventures have been carefully designed over many years of experience to nurture, challenge, and excite our campers.
Finally, we would like you to know that our staff has been selected based on their ability to share these very ideals. They are mature, responsible, capable and fun; role models of the best sort. Our staff looks forward to meeting you and your child. If I can be of further assistance, please give me a call.
Sincerely,
Woodchuck

Rainy Days
In case of rain, the camp staff stands ready to provide special Rainy Day Programs designed to keep the campers warm and dry, either at camp or, in extreme conditions, in the confines of the YMCA. Campers should wear rain gear and warm clothing on a day when the possibility of rain seems evident.
Swimming
After spending the day at camp, Leif Ericson and Tepeetonka campers are transported to either the YMCA or other indoor Sioux Falls pools for recreational swimming in heated swimming pools, under the supervision of trained lifeguards. Little Vikes campers participate in swimming three times each week.
