Little Vikes (Ages 4-5)

Here is a special day camp that offers a variety of learning opportunities in an introductory camping experience for four and five year old boys and girls. Each day begins and ends at the YMCA. In between, campers are transported by bus to many parks and places of interest. Our great staff leadership offers safe and healthy outdoor activities and the caring and understanding necessary for the development of a happy, self-confident and well adjusted child.

Camp Sessions

Four two-week sessions are offered throughout the summer. Only sixty campers will be enrolled per session to ensure a positive first camping experience.

• Camp 1 -- June 3 – 7  &  June 10 – 14, 2013
• Camp 2 -- June 17 – 21  &  June 24 – 28, 2013
• Camp 3 -- July 8 – 12  &  July 15 – 19, 2013
• Camp 4 -- July 22 – 26  &  July 29 – August 2, 2013

Registration

• Camp 1 registration closed May 6, 2013
• Camp 2 registration closed May 20, 2013

Staff

Counselors are trained to understand the characteristics and potential of four and five year old children. The physical and psychological safety of your child is our primary concern. We want your child to grow in self-confidence, self-esteem and happiness during the two weeks of camp. A ratio of one staff to five campers is maintained.

Field Trips & Tours

Four of the days will be highlighted by special trips to the Great Plains Zoo, a trip to Palisades State Park, and a morning at Leif Ericson Day Camp with a horse drawn wagon ride.

Swimming Time

Little Vikes will swim three times per week in our shallow YMCA Training Pool. The close staff ratio and fun toys help insure a positive water experience and fun.

Drop off & Pick up

Parents are responsible for transportation to and from the YMCA each day. Drop off between 7:45 and 8:00 am. Pick up between 12 noon and 12:15 pm at the Scherschligt Family YMCA Play Space.
