Who? Any student enrolled in the five Sioux Falls Public Middle Schools may register and attend: Axtell Park, Edison, Memorial, Patrick Henry and Whittier.

Where? Meet in the school’s cafeteria. Edison students meet at the First Presbyterian Church 1 block south of school.

When? September 12, 2011 - May 11, 2012, 3:45 - 5:45pm. Once registered, you may come as often or as seldom as you like. After 3:45pm, you MUST have a signed pass from the school office or a teacher to attend. Once you leave, you may not return to the ASP that day and MUST leave the building and property within 10 minutes.

How do I sign up? Bring the completed, signed/dated (by student & parent/guardian) registration form with you the first time you want to attend, or drop it off at your school’s office.

How do I get home? Bus transportation is available to students who are registered with the ASP and attended that day. CAUTION! Because of the school district’s "open enrollment" policy, bus routes are limited to children residing in neighborhoods within the district of the school at which they attend. Routes and stops are constantly adjusted to meet the needs of those riding.

ASP Phone Numbers? Axtell Park: 254-7200, Edison: 254-7201, Memorial: 940-8084, Patrick Henry: 254-7202, and Whittier: 254-7203. YMCA Program Director Jessica Jervik: (605) 336-3190 ext 123.

Students and Parents/Guardians

Please read this informational brochure. It will help you to better understand what this program has to offer, as well as instructions, rules and student expectations.

In addition to two YMCA Youth Program Directors overseeing the entire ASP, there is a Site Director and support staff at each of the sites. With the exception of Edison, each ASP is school-site-based. Students are given the opportunity to choose from a variety of daily activities in which to participate. In addition to the activities, students attending the ASP are provided with a snack as well as bus transportation at the end of the program to selected areas within that school’s district. There are also outside agencies that participate on a regular basis: Boy & Girl Scouts of America, County Extension-4H, Multi Cultural Center and Volunteers from the local colleges.

The ASP is a "drop-in service", not a "day-care center" and students, following established procedures, may sign in/out without a parent being present. Without a properly completed ASP registration form, students may attend ONE TIME ONLY and there will be NO EXCEPTION! ALSO, SCHOOL RULES APPLY~ EX: NO CELL PHONES!!!
