YMCA Camp Leif Ericson - Two Week Program

Leif Ericson Day Camp

Boys & Girls - Ages 6-9

Kids simply love Leif Ericson Day Camp.  Summer after summer, our campers return to reunite with their best friends and camp counselors. There are favorite horses to ride, campfires to enjoy, and old camp stories to be re-told.  Many of our camper parents are often seen reconnecting with old friends and warm memories during parent’s night each summer.

Our counselors also give special attention to our new campers, who quickly make friends and are welcomed into the camp family.  Your child remains with the same counselor and small group of children each week as they travel to activities together.  The first day at camp includes several “get to know you” activities and games to make your child comfortable.

We make camp fun and convenient for parents, too!

  • Exciting family night program
  • FREE daily bus transportation for your child to/from camp
  • FREE hot lunch for your child each day
  • FREE “parent’s night out” when your child enjoys their overnight

Evening & Special Activities

Parent Night
On Tuesday evening, during the second week of the session, campers and their families come together for a special program that includes singing, skits, tours of camp and meeting staff.

Overnight
On the second Thursday evening of the Camp session, eight and nine year old campers begin their "Leif Ericson overnight." Campers gather at Campfire Point for an inspirational program before returning to their individual campsites for roasting hotdogs and smores.

Amazon Valley Adventure Escape
Eight and nine year old groups re-create the crash of their airplane in the depths of the Amazon Valley. The goals are to increase self-esteem, create mutual trust, bond the small group together, solve problems together and... to have fun. The escape from Amazon Valley provides excitement and adventure for all!  There is even a real airplane in the woods!

Field Trips
In addition, we take camp "on the road" each session with a special trip to Wild Water West!
