Day Camps Only

Camp Leif Ericson Parent Information

Welcome parents!  Here, you’ll find out about what to bring, finding what’s lost, payments, financial assistance and more. Plus, you can download the Parent Guide.

Campers spend the day outside having fun. To make their day more enjoyable, they should dress appropriately with clothing that will allow them to run, jump, climb and play comfortably. They MUST wear closed-toe shoes. And, if it’s going to rain, send a raincoat. Every day, campers should apply water-resistant sunscreen and bug spray before arriving at camp and bring a towel, swimming suit, and a reusable water bottle.  You’ll also receive a comprehensive list after registration.

Personal items left at camp will be cleaned and donated to local charities at the end of each session. Items of significant financial cost will be held in the Camp Office until the end of the summer and then donated to a worthy cause (if not claimed).

Online registration allows families to create one unique username and password for the registration process; however, each camper must be registered separately. Registration deposits are not refundable.

  •  $100 deposit is due at time of registration, balance is due 2 weeks before camp starts.
  •  If you are registering 2 weeks or less before camp starts, the full amount will be due at the time of registration.

Late Payments and Unpaid Balances
Campers with outstanding balances will not be allowed to attend camp. Returned checks will incur a $25 charge payable by cashier’s check or money order. All future payments must be made with a credit card, money order or cashier's check.

Changes in Enrollment
All changes in enrollment after initial registration must be in writing and are subject to availability. Changes in registration are subject to a $25 charge.

Health Center
We take great care in making sure that your child is having fun and staying safe at camp.  YMCA Camp Leif Ericson staff members, life guards and counselors are CPR and first-aid trained and can respond to your child’s needs. Plus, a well-equipped health center is located on camp and is staffed by an RN and other certified professionals.

Campers are treated as individuals with respect shown for different tastes, preferences, range of behavior patterns and abilities. However, we require that the safety and security of everyone is maintained. If a one-on-one aide is assigned to a child during the school year, regardless of the aide’s function, an aide is required to accompany the child during camp. Aides are not provided by YMCA Camp Leif Ericson.

The YMCA reserves the right to dismiss a child from camp whose special needs we are unable to meet or whose conduct is not in the best interest of camp and the other participants. Please contact us if you have questions regarding the accommodations and special needs of your camper.

We enforce and abide by the four core values of the YMCA: caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. If a camper can’t meet the expectations of our programs, parents will be notified and corrective plan will be set. If the camper’s behavior continues violate camp policies, the camper will be dismissed from the program. If violent or threatening behavior occurs or damage to camp and/or other property is caused, the camper may be dismissed from the program (i.e., hitting, kicking, threatening, and damaging of property). Refunds will not be granted if a camper is dismissed from camp.

YMCA Camp Leif Ericson has a plan in place to respond quickly and notify you in an emergency. In the event of an emergency or delay in programming, we will contact you if your camper is directly affected. Parents can also receive up-to-date information on our website, Twitter or on our Facebook page (YMCA Camp Leif Ericson).
